The Adirondack Park, created in 1892, covers a large portion of Northeastern New York State. At 6 million acres, it is larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Great Smoky, and Everglades National Parks combined. The Forest Preserve in the Park is the largest area of wilderness in the nation outside of Alaska.
