PROSPECT MOUNTAIN –
A VIEW FROM THE SUMMIT
Enjoy a beautiful 5 1/2 mile drive to the 2030 foot summit. Stop at three
separate overlooks The Narrows, Lake George and the Eagle’s Eye.
Spectacular views of Vermont’s Green Mountains, New Hampshire’s
White Mountains, New York’s Adirondack High Peaks and, on a very
clear day, the Laurentians of Canada. View of Lake George Village is
back dropped by Black Forest Range. From the parking lot you can take
a continuously running “viewmobile” to the summit for more spectacular
views. You can also see remains of the world’s largest cable railroad and
the fireplace of once-thriving Prospect Mt. Hotel.
PADDLEWHEEL CRUISES
ON THE MINNE-HA-HA
Take a one hour Scenic cruise of beautiful & historic Lake George on
board an Authentic Paddlewheel Steamboat, the Minne-Ha-Ha. This
one hour cruise on the crystal clear waters of Lake George explores
the southern half of Lake George where large historic mansions line the
shores below scenic mountains. Lake George is alive with history. Built
in 1969 on Lake George, the MINNE-HA-HA is an authentic steamboat
whose engine room is glass-enclosed so passengers can actually see
the engine working. The whistle blows. The bright red paddle wheel dips
into the crystal clear waters of Lake George. All aboard!
FORT WILLIAM HENRY
Fort William Henry provides groups with a tour of the Fort explaining its
history, importance of its location during the French & Indian War and the
methods and weapons of the warfare of the 18th century. The museum
contains artifacts found on site. Sitting atop a small rise, Fort William
Henry commanded the southern end of Lake George November 1755 to
August 1757. The Fort’s history is short but its final tumultuous days have
been retold in the “Last of the Mohicans” by James Fennimore Cooper.
SARATOGA GAMING AND RACEWAY
